Guest professor Phillip Ooi

We are honoured to welcome Prof. Phillip Ooi (Arthur N.L. Chiu Distinguished Professor at the University of Hawaii) as a visiting professor at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering. Prof. Ooi comes with decades of experience in both research and practice and specialises in the fields of pavement, bridge and slope geotechnics. Welcome to our institute, and take advantage of this opportunity for academic exchange.

Bio - Phillip Ooi

He obtained a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Leeds, U.K., Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, respectively. He worked for 2.5 years as a Geotechnical Engineer for the Drainage and Irrigation Department in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 8 years as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for GEI Consultants, Inc. in Massachusetts and 27.5 years at the University of Hawaii where he is currently the Arthur N.L. Chiu Distinguished Professor. His research covers pavement, bridge and slope geotechnics.
