The aim of the course is the practical work on agricultural engineering issues. In the exercise, we combine the practical application of scientific research question and methodology.
The lecture will take place a whole week. Each student will go through all stations provided. The course will be carried out at the site of the Experimental Farm in Großenzersdorf. To be able to perform the station operating efficiently is provided that the students are prepared in advance (literature will be provided)
The following stations are available. Because of the dependency on weather conditions it may
be necessary to adopt to the situation.

Station "A Robi a day"
-Short Introduction to "Automation technology and current applications in agricultural technology
-Programming a mobile robot in the lab.

Station "Current measurements"
-Short Introduction to measurment techniques
-Doing some measurements (current,voltage,power,temperature, wind flow,..)
-Planning, implementation and measurement on a measurement setup

Station: "Solar Test Bench"
-Short Introduction about Solar energy use in agriculture
-Introduction To the necessary measurement technology
-Execution of measurements on a solar test

Station: "GPS tractor"
GPS assisted steering systems on the tractor
- Presentation of the different systems with correction signals and accuracies
- Comparison of DGPS with RTK
- Practical application of GPS with a Parcour
- Measuring accuracies

Station: "technogenic ground pressure"
-Causes Of technogenic soil compaction, reduction measures
-Identifing the contact surface pressure of wheel load and contact surface pressure determination, calculation of potential harmful compaction risk with TASC program
-Use Of measurement technology for soil physical examinations (sample ring, *) piercing probe, air permeameter, Penetrologger

Station: "Setting the plow"
- Clarify the question "Why to plow"
- Clarify the forces acting on the plow forces and moments
- Discussion of the consequences and causes of "false" plow adjustment
- Practical measurements on the field with variation of working depth, plug settings and speed
- Measurement of fuel consumption, energy expenditure, tractor movement, slip,..

Station "Irrigation"
-Short Introduction into Irrigation
-Setting up an irrigation system on the field
-measuring the accuracy and uniformity of the irrgiation

The students are able to plan and carry out agro-technical experiments and to evaluate results Students are able to solve tasks in the field of Agricultural Engineering at university level .
