Overview of bacterial systematics, life of phytopathogenic bacteria and their control.
Simple experiments for the detection and culture of bacteria. Inoculation experiments with plants.
Plant Virology :
History of Plant Virology and Phytoplasmology. Taxonomy of plant viruses. Replication and transmission. Detection and elimination.

+ can name the most important phytopathogenic bacteria.
+ understand the biology and strategy of phytopathogenic bacteria.
+ know control management principles and are able to develop control strategies.
+ are able to obtain pure bacterial cultures from infected plant material.
+ know basic methods for the identification of phytopathogenic bacteria.
+ are able to conduct simple infection tests with phytopathogenic bacteria.
Students have knowledgte of the history of Plant Virology and Phytoplasmology, the Taxonomy of Plant Viruses, their Replication and Transmission as well as the Detection and Eliminiation.
Students present prominent examples of pathogens.
