Content

Theory and practical approach of biochemical methods (challenges of sample preparation, chromatography, electrophoresis, HPLC, mass spectrometry): their technical-physical-chemical background, handling, discussion about their usabilities in different fields, developments, combinations.

Strategies in analytic development for biotechnological derived products;
Technical and statistial requirements for valid analytic;
Specification and acceptance criteria according to ICH guidelines;
Method validation; Quality assurance in routine analytic;
EU-GMP-guidelines and general documentation concepts;
Pharmacopoeia methods exemplified by a recombinant protein.

Previous knowledge expected

Bachelor studies completed; Basic biochemistry and biotechnology on master level! Practical experience with some biochemical working methods.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students show a deep understanding of the classical methods of purification and analysis of molecules of biochemical relevance. They are able to evaluate new developments in the field in terms of usability for their own analytical problems.

The students are able to take part in the conceptual design of analytic in biotechnology.
