Ecological aspects in flood risk management
The facilities and hydraulic engineering requirements for the inflow of environmental aspects in the Flood Protection are presented in detail at the individual types of construction of the longitudinal and transverse projects and with restraint measures and a list of the improvements for the lower bottom fauna and fish populations.
It is then shown on existing water protection constructions how ecological improvement possibilities can subsequently be efficiently implemented, as well as how they should be incorporated already at the planning stage.
The occasionally remaining arguments of supposedly higher costs of environmental protection water constructions are discussed using practical examples.
The improvements which, through compliance with the environmental aspects related to the Water Framework Directive in spite of the protective structures no deterioration of the entire water regime or even may have an increase in the water classification result, are shown.
n the field trip these possibilities will be discussed on the spot.
