Content

The lecture provides an overview of applications for landscape construction, explaining the principles of design and construction by way of focal subjects (soil, stone-pavements, constructing walls using natural and artificial stone, concrete, metal, glass and plastics)

-materials and technical foundations for the design and construction of open spaces and gardens
-availability and economics of resources, the use of materials in the history of gardening and landscaping
-quality criteria and monitoring
-history of construction and traditional craftsmanship, landscape planning as a new subject

The content is provided by lectures, seminar works, and excursions.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Overview of the responsibilities at constructing open spaces. Understanding materials, their proper handling and the history and suitability of their use; assessment of material and construction quality. Acquiring expertise in the sense of being able to understand, use and explain the principles of craft.
