Performance of a bioprocess on lab scale comprising strain development (genetic engineering, isolation), fermentation (fed batch process), product analysis (ELISA), microbiological monitoring (water, air, surfaces)

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students are able to run the fermentation of an genetically engineered microorganism.
They can operated a lab-scale bioreactor to provide a sterile process environment. The students are able to follow and explain guidelines for the safety handling of microorganism. They are able to make the detailed planning of an experiment for the determination of microbial water contamination.
