- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
Most of our knowledge on tree growth and forest growth is the result of long-term forest experiments. Forest condition simulators describe this knowledge by equations and algorithms. Latest when these simulators are parameterised and/or evaluated, again the data of the long-term forest experiments are needed. This course deals with (i) the establishment, monitoring, evaluation and interpretation of long-term forest experiments, and with the (ii) development, evaluation and application of different forest condition simulators. The seminar consists of the evaluation of one long-term forest experiment and the evaluation or application of a simulator.
