The avoidance of game damage to the forest by harmonized management of forest vegetation and free ranging ungulates is handled, based on biological and silvicultural fundamentals. This contains the control mechanisms in the ecological system "forest - game - man", the recording of game ecological basics (habitat quality, predisposition of the forest to game damage, huntability of game etc.), the methods and interpretation of the game-damage analysis, the measure coordination between forestry, hunting, agriculture, tourism, nature conservation and environmental control, and the possibilities and problems of objective success evalutation. Important instruments of wildlife management as the "game ecological spatial planning"; (habitat protection, damage avoidance) and "game-damage control systems"; are explained specifically.

The students are able to characterise complex forest-ecological, wildlife-ecological, and landscape-ecological contexts and to illustrate a holistic approach regarding the interactions between forest, game ungulates, and human impacts in a cultivated landscape. They are able to identify and to evaluate connections between ecological, socio-economic, and politico-administrative problem areas. The students are able to reveal and analyse possibilities and problems of the implementation of scientific findings into the practical problem solution.
