Overarching goal of this course is to make students familiar with an ecosystem approach to forest management. The course covers the required knowledge to define silvicultural objectives at stand level, and to maintain, regenerate, restore, tend and utilize temperate forest ecosystems. During the winter term the course provides the theoretical foundations of silviculture. In the summer term focus is on practical training and hands on examples in the field in various forest types.
