Content

(1) Introduction and conceptual foundations: basic terms and management process, corporate constitution and corporate ethics.
(2) Planning and control: strategic analysis, strategy determination and implementation, operational planning and control.
(3) Organization: design of organizational structures, corporate culture, change management and innovation, organizational learning and knowledge management.
(4) Leadership and personnel: motivation and behavior, group and group behavior, leadership, personnel as a management task.
(5) Focus on the wood supply chain.
(6) Self-reflection, application and coaching.

Previous knowledge expected

Basic knowledge of business management

Completion of the course Business Management I is NOT a prerequisite, as different content and competencies are taught, so Corporate Management II can be passed independently.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

1. Students are able to describe the strategic tasks of business management, recognize their importance and are able to implement them.
2. Students are able to independently work on relevant literature (Schreyögg/Koch) as well as to present and interpret the contents on the basis of working materials (theoretical control questions, practical case studies).
3. Students are able to transfer theoretical concepts of business management to practical applications (case studies), apply research methods as well as analyze and evaluate alternative solutions.
4. Students are able to present findings and results, as well as to discuss and negotiate them (e.g. in workshops, moderations).
5. Students are able to apply (software-based) tools (e.g. AnyLogic for discrete event simulation) in order to support management decisions in a sound manner by means of quantitative analyses.
6. Students are able to perform portfolio analyses for companies and supply chains (e.g. SWOT analysis) .
7. Students understand the dynamics within the wood supply chain and are able to transfer management strategies developed in game-based online simulations into practice.
8. Students understand the importance of independent, lifelong learning, equality, sustainability, respect and constructive discourse and live them proactively.
