Content

•Introduction - Nutrient acquisition and translocation (biomembranes and selectivity of nutrient uptake, mechanisms of xylem and phloem loading/unloading)
•Functions of macro- and micronutrients in grapevine
•Fertilisation of grapevines

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Following the completion of this lecture on grapevine nutrition, the students will:
•explain the mechanisms involved in the selective uptake of mineral nutrients by grapevine roots;
•describe the physiological functions of macro- and micro- nutrients;
•identify the major deficiency symptoms of mineral nutrients in grapevine;
•describe the contribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis to grapevine nutrition;
