Content

The German III Conversation course will sufficiently discuss those subjects concerning vocabulary and correct grammar that have been the content of the course German for BOKU specific Topics and will take place in the relaxed atmosphere of a small forum. In addition, a list of actual subjects containing the preferred subjects of participants will be made together in class.

Various forms of discussion:

-Plenary discussion

-Bilateral discussions/conversation

-Group discussions followed by analysis in the plenary

-Debates (pro and contra positions in discussion)



Upon students´ request, an analysis of mistakes may be incorporated into the course.

A part of the course can be conducted in a block session by working on a project with main focus on rhetoric and presentation: e.g. conference of scientists, case studies, global simulation - ´ but only upon request of all students.

Previous knowledge expected

Basic knowledge of the German language is necessary (Level A2 or B1)

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

-Communication skills not only in every day speech but also in scientific subjects with relevance to current subjects and studies in applied life sciences

-Improvement of expression and emphasis on correct language use

-Correct use of rhetorical tools

-Improvement of vocabulary by active participation

-Techniques of presentation and training with rhetorical tools
