Elements of economic policy; basic discussion of supply, demand, price formation and market forms; policy instruments for manipulating agricultural markets (taxes, intervention, subsidies, trade regulations); agricultural production, processing and marketing structures; overview of the most important international agricultural markets (e.g. cereals, oilseeds, sugar, fruit and vegetables, milk, meat, coffee, cocoa and natural fibres); international agreements and their impacts on the most important markets for agricultural products; problems in international trade in agricultural products.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students should gain an overview of the most important world markets for agricultural products. They should also understand the implications for these markets of international agreements and other market interventions.
