Content

The course aims to introduce the students to the topics of conservation planning. The students will apply planning and management tools and knowledge to create innovative solutions for communities, agencies or park management. Throughout the in-class component of the course, students will be introduced to required tools and techniques and prepare their assigned topics for a self organized assignement. During the field course, students will work in mixed teams of four or five to collect relevant information for their respective projects (e.g. through inventory, mapping or interviews with administration or local stakeholders), to develop new solutions and to summarize their findings in a joined report. At the end of the week, each group will give a 20-minute presentation to the community.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students are able to implement their knowledge in conservation in planning processes. They are able to understand the advantage of collaboration and participatory processes.
