Students will have an overview on:
- Economic evaluation methods as they are used in natural hazard and risk management.
- Basics of cost-benefit analysis, as well as their possible applications and limitations.
- Alternative valuation methods for intangible assets.
Based on the input provided, students will work together on the different evaluation methods, discuss their strengths and weaknesses, and thus gain a deeper insight in the topic.
As this course is held in English, the willingness to deal with English-language literature is mandatory.

The students know the basics on different methods for an evaluation of costs and benefits of tangible and intangible goods, can apply the respective methods and assess their advantages and disadvantages.
