Content

The practical evaluation of meadows and pastures is exercised through examples. Grasses, Forbs and Legumes are identified and analysed singularly with respect ot their fodder value for horses, the harvest on field up to the feeding is estimated. Composting of horse muck and restoration of degraded pastures and meadows with adapted seed mixes are exercised in practice. In addition, some horse farms are visited and discussions with farmers and horse farmers will take place.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students have to learn how to apply theoretical knowledge of grassland management in practice. They should learn the necessary tools for competent work on filed and with fodder. In addition, they have to see the new preparation methods for farm´s own organic fertilizers in action. Practice is the central element, we want to improve our knowledge and to apply it; do we understand the knowledge we have?
