The function of banks in the economy; the creation of money, central bank money, the money supply; sources and uses of funds; the Austrian National Bank its tasks, monetary policy instruments; financial markets; monetary systems; credit institutes in Austria; General Standard Terms and Conditions; giro business; savings deposits; lending (types of loans, credit in terms of surety, securing a loan); banking legislation.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The aim is to give students a basic understanding of the organisation of the Austrian banking system, banking operations and the lending business.
