Content

Introduction, water globally and in the Alpine region, water balance of Austria, forest hydrology, historical background, waterbalance of forest stands and their components, influences of tree species selection, thinning and other management practices upon these components. Water chemistry, influences of tree species, management and soil conditions on water quality of soil and surface waters.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Understanding the interrelationship between forests and the watercycle. Understanding the processes which lead to changes in water quantity and quality resulting from forest management practices.
