Content

Chemical basis of life, structure and function of cells and basics of metabolism, of plant tissues and from meristem to primary and secondary tissues. Organs (leaf, shoot, root), their growth and morphology. Physiology: germination, movement, regulation via phytohormones, importance and regulation of light, water and nutrient supply, transport in plants. Botanical basis for ecological processes.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Participants will have basic knowledge of the structure of seed plants from cells via tissues and organs to the whole plant body. They know development and metabolic processes, understand the relationship between structure and function and adaptations of plants to their environment. The course provides a sound basis for later courses related to biology.
