Starting from a description of the main tasks of recreation planning e.g.: - Maintenance, enhancement and strengthening of the existing supply, - Conflict resolution, - Future orientated planning to match future demands and to offer a demand-orientated supply. the lecture shows what kind of contributions the recreation planning has to spatial, environmental and conservation planning tasks (e.g. landscape planning, the environmental impact assessment and the FFH impact assessment). A third aspect is the introduction in spatial plans, strategies and models in recreation planning: - Zoning plans, - Concepts to estimate carrying capacities, - Limits of acceptable changes, - Visitor Impact Management, - Auditing systems - etc. In the lecture the students work with practical examples out of the national and international planning practice.

- Overview about the tasks and significance of recreation planning, - Knowledge on the role of recreation planning in the planning disciplines, - Knowledge concerning the tangible planning strategies and instruments of recreation planning in Europe and North America, - Ability to estimate and select adequate planning strategies and methods for dealing with different planning problems.
