Content

Elements of differential calculus; Newton's method, Taylor's theorem

Integral calculus: Main theorem, basic integrals, substitution, integration by parts, numerical integration, some applications.

Functions in several variables: partial derivatives, tangent plane, extreme values of functions in several variables, linear regression

Previous knowledge expected

basic knowledge of mathematics as usual after secondary school

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students are familiar with the elementary mathematical functions and can draw their graphs. They have competence in differential and integral calculus, i.e., they can calculate the derivative of a given function and evaluate basic integrals. They are familiar with the problem and methods of numerical analysis. They can use this competences in applications.
