Content

Forest and/or ecosystem related issues require different levels of detail according to the subject matter of interest. According to the chosen spatial temporal resolution and the dynamic aspects of the problem different methods can be applied within problem solving and/or information extraction. Different methods for solving typical forest and/or ecosystem related issues will be introduced. Linear programming techniques, statistical data management strategies and different data modeling techniques will be discussed. Case studies and exercises will be discussed.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Introduction in using standard operation research methods, data analyses tasks and their applicability within a forestry related context, data requirements, and interpreting of results.
