Content

Physical and structural basics for agricultural drainage. Causality between reasons for water logging and hydro-ameliorative measures; Determination of the required hydraulic parameters as well as design parameters for rural water structures, calculation of drain spacings, design and dimensioning of the measures and structural works. Opportunities for controllable regulations of the ground water regime. Identification and maintenance of cases of damage of existing facilities.
Presentation of case studies and relevant software.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Planning of new and adaptation of existing drainage systems in order to achieve a sustainable land improvement for the agricultural sector as well as taking other interests into account, such as nature conservation or flood protection; measures to mitigate adverse impacts to existing drainage systems.
