Content

Students will learn about a number of drawing tools (pencils, pens, fountain pens, dip-pen and ink, watercolour pencils, watercolours, charcoal). They will learn about freehand sketching techniques, methods and approaches in landscape architecture. In abstract creative mark making they will explore textures, shapes, patterns, and shadowing. They will sketch landscape and architectural structures and patterns through observational drawing and later abstracting them in design sketching. They will use a variety of drawing projections, such as plan, cross-section, perspective, isometric drawing, model drawing in a variety of sketching exercises. Students will explore urban landscapes by using different approaches. Students will learn shorthand techniques of sketching people and vegetation in urban and open landscape context.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students will learn several drawing methods and sketching techniques and improve their drawing skills in order to do observational and analytical landscape drawings. They will learn fast sketching techniques for visual communication of design ideas. They will gain confidence in their drawing techniques required for professional landscape architects.
