Content

Soils are the living skin of our earth and provide many ecosystem goods and services, including the production of food, feed, biomass for energy and material use. However, soils are a limited and vulnerable resource. Global change may concern important biogeochemical cycles, e.g. the carbon and nitrogen cycle and the use of limited resources like phosphorus. We will look into the role of soils in this context. Especially soil organic matter and its possible contribution to minimise global warming and nutrient cycling with focus on arable systems will be discussed.
