Content

Analysis of multivariate or complex data in ecology though most of the statistical methods can also be used for other purposes. Data management, data exploration and transformation, linear and non-linear models, mixed effect models, diversity measures, cluster analysis and ordination methods, analysis of communities and their relationship with the environment. Depending on the interest of participants, additional topics may include species distribution models, functional traits, physiological models or the use of online data sources. Participants can work with their own data or data supplied, but in any case should explore all aspects covered.

Previous knowledge expected

Introductory course in statistics, basics of the R software

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After completing the course, participants will know important statistical methods and be able to statistically analyse and present multivariate data, particularly as used in ecology and related fields, using R software and important R packages.
