Content

The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the principal molecular mechanisms through which cells respond to internal and external stimuli and change their function accordingly. Along these lines, the course will focus on the mechanisms of intracellular signal transduction in eukaryotes. We will analyze specific topics on several, well-characterized signaling pathways including those related to G-coupled receptors, tyrosine kinase receptors, ion channels-coupled receptors and steroid receptors. Moreover, the course will also involve in-depth critical discussions of specific topics in the signaling field by the reading and analysis of critical, scientific reviews in the field.

Previous knowledge expected

Biology, Chemistry and Basic Biochemistry.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Student enrolled this cours should gain a comprehensive understanding in molecular mechanisms of signal transduction
