One-day excursion: practical exercises
Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences): After successful completion of the course, the students have theoretical and practical knowledge of the biology, habitat preferences and belonging to habitat types. Their acquainted knowledge puts them in a position to use macrophytes as indicators and to assess their occurrence and endangerment in Austria.
The one-day excursion (compulsory) promotes the practical skills and knowledge of methods regarding sampling, description of vegetation as well as knowledge of species. In teamwork, the students can independently survey and assess aquatic habitats in a methodically equivalent way. On the basis of the aspects of conservation and EU guidelines presented in the course, they are able to employ and at least fundamentally assess these as well as to accordingly act in a responsible way.
