(C) Pedestrians:
planning and alignment, infrastructure, crossing aids, traffic lights, handicapped and their requirements, bus stations
(D) Bicycle traffic:
planning basics, infrastructure and networks, alignment of infrastructure, different facilities and cross sections, contraflow cycling in one way streets, Intersection planning and crossing aids, roundabouts, grade separated intersections, road-signs and road markings, cycling and public transport, bicycle parking

The aim of these lectures is to procure a basic understanding of the importance and needs of the non-motorized, environmentally-friendly modes of transport. The most important scientific aspects of pedestrian and cycle traffic are discussed. Students should develop the skills required to design appropriate facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. They should also be able to assess and optimize such facilities in terms of safety, functionality and efficiency.
