Previous knowledge expected

Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in forest inventory (e.g. handling of the respective instruments), knowledge of forest soils, forest climatology and forest botany

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students understand the principles of forest growth and temperature restricted growth on high alpine sites
Students understand ecological processes in high elevations
Students are able to classify forest sites
Students are able to plan, conduct, analyse and interpret a forest growth field experiment and relate it results of forest site classification
Students understand the micro-site dependence of high elevation afforestations
