Content

In the first part of the course we will refresh our knowledge about the most important social research methods (basic knowledge was provided in the VU "Sozialwissenschaftliche Arbeitsmethoden"). This part is organised as an interplay of input and practical exercise. Based on this first part we will develop research questions addressing both landscape planning and sociological problems. Topics which are already dealt with in other courses are welcomed. The most interesting ideas will be selected and worked out in smaller teams (3-4 persons). The instructor will advise the team-based research during the whole semester.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The aim of this course is to provide additional training in the theory and practice of social research methods. Course participants should learn how to organise and carry out an empirical study by themselves. Strong emphasis falls on research questions relevant for landscape planners.
