Content

In order to enable a better communication and to cross-link students from the different groups, the journal clubs will be offered both in the “traditional” way within the respective working groups and in a very special manner for BioToP students. The latter will be held regularly every two weeks as a get-together of all BioToP students with at least two PIs and another associated faculty member being present. This will familiarize the students with important research topics in the field of BioToP. Principal investigators and associated faculty members will rotate so that students get exposed to different ways of thinking and critical evaluations of scientific work. In addition to the presentation of a suitable publication, it is also expected that students will address the relevance of the selected paper in the context of the existing literature and also discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the paper. Successful participation in a journal club includes permanent attendance (missing no more than two meetings) and presentation of at least one publication per journal club. All BioToP students have to pass the journal clubs I, II, III and IV (a’ 1 ECTS).

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
