Content

The VS focuses on the introduction of basic terms and methods related to risk analysis and management of a wide range of natural hazards. Concepts such as risk, vulnerability and resilience are explained and mitigation, preparedness and disaster management options are presented. In the second part of the VS the student will be asked to apply what they learnt and present their results through a series of presentation and discussion sessions that will dominate the second part of the term.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

At the end of the VS the students will have comprehend concepts commonly used in disaster management but they should also be able to apply the knowledge they have acquired on global examples.
