Content

This lecture focuses on the scientific basis of the climate system, the anthropogenic induced climate change, climate modelling, the regionalization of climate change scenarios and interactions between climate and climate change research. The seminar part which is compulsory is done in team work in 8 groups. Each group will work on one chapter of the actual IPCC report of working group 1 (AR6) and will present the key messages of the chapter to the other students of the course.

Previous knowledge expected

This lecture is obligatory for UBRM master students of the module climate. The meteorological/climatological know how of an UBRM Bachelor is the precondition

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Graduates of this lecture should be able to understand scientific questions in the context of anthropogenic climate change, global and regional climate modelling, as well as climate change adaptation and mitigation. The graduates should be able to discuss these topics on expert level as well as with stakeholders. The graduates should especcially be aple to understand and interpret the IPCC reports.
