Content

Agricultural energy plant production: Competition for agricultural acreages, energy balances, energy plants.

Importance of wood for energy supplying; energy wood produce and influence of situation; measurement methods for energy wood.

Energetical utilizable microbial transformations; biogas; substrates; technical plants for biogas production.

Principles of wood-biomass combustion; combustion engines for liquid and gaseous biomass fuels; principle of stirling engine; function principles of gas- and steam turbine engines, ORC-engines; steam piston engines; fuel cells.

Cost accounting for forestry wood chips production; cost accounting for biogas plants; profitability of cultivating raw material-plants on fallow lands.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Understanding of possibilities and limits of agricultural energy-plant production; knowledge about potentials and limiting factors of energy wood production in austria; obtaining a general view over possibilities of microbial energy transformation, especially methanization of organic residual materials; familiarity with technical basics of energy transformation; understanding of profitability assessment of energy production from agricultural and forestry raw materials.
