Content

General introduction; loan - interlibrary loan services; searching in catalogues (online- and card-catalogues); subject specific literature search; searching for journals (print and online); searching in electronic resources (e-books, e-journals); literature research in scientific (literature-) databases; searching for scientific information in the internet; reference and citation management (incl. reference management software); insight in Austrian copyright law; searching and evaluating literature/sources of information; quotation.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students should be familiar with the different means of searching for scientific literature and should be able to search for literature for their scientific work (bach./master thesis, dissertation etc.).
Furthermore the students should be able to quote literature correctly and to evaluate scientific/non scientific sources of information.
In general information literacy should be enhanced (for the study as well as for profession).
