Gravitational mass movements, including landslides, are naturally or anthropogenically caused geomorphic processes contributing to the reduction of inequilibria in the relief, caused by tectonic, volcanic, anthropogenic or other processes.
If landslides occur in populated areas, or if they may interfere with people or infrastructures, they represent significant geological hazards.
1) Classification and kinematics of landslides
2) In situ investigation of landslides
3) Monitoring of landslides
4) Deformation behavior of landslides
5) Trigger and influencing factors
6) Stability analyses and numerical modeling of landslides

The participants shall bring with them some basic geologic and geomorphological knowledge.

This lecture shall assist the students in better understanding the complex and multifaceted phenomenon landslides, with special emphasis on sliding mechanisms.
