Understanding of the environment impact assessment as a political tool for solving antagonistic interests when implementing of large public works. The environment impact assessment seen from public law natural scientific and from organizational view. Necessary basics from ecology, implications and measures, conceptions of environmental declarations and impact assessments, guidelines and operational indicators.
Overview about legislation, responsibilities in Austria, with an introduction to the basics of constitutional law and administration as well as to EU legal instruments and the relationship of national and EU law, with an (short) overview of environmental law:

Previous knowledge about the Austrian legislation and the administrative structures are helpful. A script is available in the lecture together with hand outs.

Giving an introduction and a general overview of environmental law and its implementation in Austria, related to the environment impact assessment, with the special focus the environment impact assessment law and its administration.
