Content

Landscape architectural design training includes designing at different scales.
A successful project is characterised by design qualities at all scales.
In this course, the conceptual design idea (of a competition entry) is elaborated up to the contextual design of the details.

A temporary garden for a garden festival is to be designed in a team, which will then be worked out and calculated in detail.
The elaborated entries will be submitted to one of two international garden festivals and judged by a jury.
If a project is selected by the jury and the team manages to develop feasible plans within the deadline, it will be on display at the garden festivals in 2024.

You can choose:

- the 19th Festival Internacional de Jardins in Ponte de Lima (Portugal)
THE IMAGINARY IN THE ARTS OF THE GARDENS

or

- the 14th Festival Internacional de Xardins in Allariz (Spain, Galicia)
THE GARDEN IS A WORK OF ART

The results of the two-day Design workshop will participate in the competition.
After the design you will work out the plans for realisation.
In case of sucess you can see the results at the Gardenfestival 2024.

Erasmus students are welcome! (we also speak english, we expect design experience)
Previous knowledge expected

It is expected that students have basic knowledge of landscaping (path structures, edging, principle constructions wood/steel/masonry) and the way to create readable plan graphics and maps for construction so that we can focus on design aspects.

This is NOT a beginner course.
You are planning in teams ( 3 Persons each team)

Design conception in landscape architecture
Experience in :
working on detail qualities in the planning stage,
finding appropriate solutions and materials
producing technical instructions to realise the design.
Calculating the design financially

Experience in group work
