Content

Lecture: Introduction to the fundamentals of Building Information Modeling (BIM). Knowledge of geometric and semantic modeling with parametric objects will be conveyed. Cooperation forms within the integrated information modeling and standardizations will be described, and current guidelines and standards (ÖNORM A 6241) will be presented. As part of the module, selected participants have the opportunity to attend the "Professional Certification Program - BIMcert" training free of charge, offered by ALLPLAN Österreich GmbH.

Exercise: In-depth training on methods and possibilities of digital construction
and evaluation of buildings and structures:
- Software-based collaboration and application of CDE (Bimplus)
- Defining interfaces for data exchange in BIM projects (IFC, BCF)
- Inputting integrated component-related information
- BIM-compliant attribute mapping
- Generating component lists and deriving quantities
- BIM-compliant change management (Solibri / BCF-Live Connector /Bimplus)
- Quality assurance and coordination of discipline-specific models (Solibri)
- BIM implementation in existing organizational structures.

Previous knowledge expected

Proficiency in the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
Bachelor's degree program in Environmental Engineering (033 231) / Architecture (033 243) / Civil Engineering (033 265) or similar fields of study.
Successful completion of the courses “Technical Geometry and Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD)” and “Technical Plan Drawing with CAD”.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After successfully completing the course, participants will possess knowledge of the theoretical foundations of BIM-compliant planning methods. Additionally, participants will be able to develop digital building models using a BIM process suitable for architects and civil engineers, create construction documentation from these models, and perform basic evaluation and coordination of the digital building model. Through the acquired knowledge, participants will gain an understanding of designing digital value creation processes and will be capable of applying these methods in practice. They will have mastery over the theoretical foundations of the BIM method and, if necessary, be able to introduce and further develop BIM knowledge within companies.
