This course is taking a look at the effects of carbon offsetting. With increasing offers of projects that promise to compensate individual, climate-damaging behavior, these need to be analyzed for the actual climate protection potential they provide in the long term, and their local effects or trade-offs. CO2-compensation through afforestation and the protection of forests will be the thematic focus of the course. These will be critically examined from a natural science and social science perspective by a variety of lecturers.
