Content

This course is part of the
GBE Module Building greening advanced (elective)

The students know the principles of irrigation technologies and management and have a comprehensive overview on according systems, including grey water re-use. They comprehend the principles of integrated designs. They differentiate the substrate components and varieties and multi-layered modu-lar systems. They understand the impact on plant growth and health and water balance and the principles of care and management.

The students can plan and design building integrated irrigation, including grey-water-based systems, and multi-layered modular systems and calculate the required technical equipment. They can develop greenary drafts integrating architectural and greenary principles. They can calculate water and substrate needs and required amendments to enhance technical performance of multi-layered systems.

Previous knowledge expected

knowledge in plan drawing

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students can solve basic design and equipment questions referring to irriga-tion, substrate, use of greywater and recycled material, modular multi-layered systems, pot and climbing aid design and plant health on their own and in teams and generate creative solutions. The students have the competences for adequately communicating design and technical questions and planning de-tails. They can argue on water, substrate and plant needs and on equipment, the use and integration of recycled material and grey-water-based systems.
Students have competences to collect relevant data and state-of-the art knowledge for irrigation design and equipment. They integrate approved sys-tems with up-to-date scientific knowledge to create new solutions for complex building situations. They can evaluate plant needs and impacts on plant health.
