Content

The students will be able to describe the spectrum of georesources (minerals, rocks, clay, loam, etc.), which are available for green buildings. The students know the principles of clay building, conservation of natural resource by recycling and green cement. They will learn about the genesis and distribution of raw materials on local and global scales, the historical development of building materials and their application. The students know the use of clay/loam as well as raw materials, production process, types and applicability of green cements.

Fundamentals of materials science and building materials testing

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students are able to explain advantages and disadvantages of different building materials. They are capable of an optimal material selection and they know their limits of the application. They can apply the concept of a sustainable and near natural construction materials.
