Content

1)Herbicides: block of photosynthesis, oxidative phosphorylation, amino acid synthesis, cellulose and phospholipid synthesis, influence on microtubuli polymerisation and stimulation of auxin-binding proteins.

2)Fungicidal action: multi-site inhibitors, block of steroid and phospholipid synthesis as well as block of the synthesis of nucleic acids, melanin and proteins. Products inducing natural plant defence mechanisms are discussed.

3)Insecticides and acaricides: block of nerve signal propagation and transduction, products which disturb development and growth of insects and other control strategies (e.g. Bt-toxin)

4)Nematicides

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Give insight on the molecular mode of action of pesticides: uptake, translocation, mode of action, activation and degradation of pesticides and resistance mechanisms. Basic physiological and biochemical mechanisms are explained in detail.
