TOPICS OF THE COURSE:
Based on scientific principles and current research results, developments in waste management and circulaity are presented and methods for waste data collection and evaluation are shown.
Depending on the topicality of the subject areas, examples of the current waste managment situation are discussed:
relevant law, volume of waste, separate collection, waste avoidance, food waste, waste from electric and electronical equipment, material recycling and energy recovery, secondary materials, biowaste, compost, environment protection, old bioreactor landfills for untreated waste, thermal treatment, residues of thermal treatment, mechanical biological treatment, modern landfilling of waste, aftercare measures, remediation of landfills

Teaching of scientific basics and relationships of the wide area of waste management nd circularity including current problems and solutions from research and practice. Attending this course should enable the student to understand the status quo of waste management in Austria and Europe und to have the basic skills to adress current and future waste management challenges.
