Methods of monitoring, prognosis and control of important forest insects (weevils, bark beetles, sawflies, moths and butterflies) and fungal diseases (various seedling diseases, needle-casts, agents of wood discoloration, root decay fungi and wilt diseases) by biological, bio-technical and chemical plant protection agents.
Special strategies after catastrophic events (wind throw, breakage due to ice or snow).
Physical protection agents (protective agents against rubbing and browsing, control measures against mice, bark beetles and weevils).
Proper and save use of chemical (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides) and biological pesticides (e.g. Bacillus thuringiensis) as well as of plant protecting agents (protective agents against game, wild repellents, wound dressings).
Legal regulations, workers health and safety regulations.
Environmental impact of plant protection routines due to the used pesticide/plant protecting agent and the used application-technique.
Cost accounting of forest protection routines.
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
After successful completion of the course, students are able to plan, guide and perform forest protection routines. They can implement their knowledge on biological, bio-technical and chemical plant protection methods in practice and are familiar with the most current pesticides and their proper use as well as with the relevant legal requirements on that topic.
