The lecture is divided into the sections technical mechanics, hydrodynamics and material science .
In the first part mechanics of rigid bodies with the main focuses strength of materials with fundamentals in stresses and strains, stresses in bars, tension and compression, transverse shear stresses, torsion, bending, combined stresses, statically indeterminate systems and buckling of bars will be presented.
The aim of the part hydrodynamics is to discuss the following problems: one dimensional flow of ideal fluids; one dimensional flow of viscous Newtonian fluids; laminar and turbulent flow in pipes of circular cross-section; loss factors for pipe fittings and bends; flow from vessels; boundary layer theory; drag og solid bedies.
The last section is dedicated to material science and will give an overview of the most important engineering materials such as metals, glass, ceramic materials, and plastics. This part is supplemented by the explanation of corrosion and corrosion-protection.
