1) Short theoretical introduction to field soil description (soil profile description, assessment of soil colour, texture, pH value, carbonate content etc.)
2) Application of these methods to several soil samples to obtain experience with a broader variety of soil properties (e.g. diferent soil colours, soil textures etc.)
3)Soil profile description on a field soil (horizon designation and description including soil stucture, texture, colour, carbonate content, pH, plant root distribution, stone contents etc.) and classification of this soil according to the Austrian soil taxonomy
4) Brief descrition of several soil profiles (prepared profiles in the seminar centre) and their classification according to the Austrian soil taxonomy

- Learn and apply simple field soil tests and methodologies for description of soils and soil properties in the field
