The first part includes a discussion of different types of natural hazards such as floods in torrents, sediment transport, debris flows, landslides and snow avalanches. The second part deals with concepts of mitigation and protections measures, and includes an introdution to integrated risk management.
An excursion to a field site in Austria (or neigbouring countries)illustrates aspects of natural hazards in torrents and mitigation measures.
